Steve Baker MP was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Exiting the European Union in June 2017, following the general election.
His appointment came after David Jones was sacked by Prime Minister Theresa May and was seen as a move to bind a critical Brexiteer to the Government. Mr Baker was head of the European Research Group (ERG) which brings together high-profile Tory MPs that campaigned in favour of Brexit and have pushed for a hard Brexit since the referendum.
Mr Baker was elected as Conservative Member of Parliament for Wycombe in 2010. Here he served on the Transport Select Committee from 2010 to 2013 and has been on the Treasury Select Committee since 2014.
