Chris Whitehouse featured in Guardian analysis of Boris’s address to the nation

In an article assessing Boris’s contentious televised message, in which he described the UK’s first tentative steps out of lockdown in a manner that was somewhat unclear and vague, the Guardian called on experts in public communications to give their own analysis, with Whitehouse Chairman Chris Whitehouse at the forefront.

Chris said: “I am normally a Boris fan and I backed him for the Conservative leadership, but I thought his address yesterday was a dog’s dinner in terms of communication”. He continued: “I would have published the document first, embargoed to the media so they had time to read it and see precisely what it said, and then I would have kept the messaging very simple and very clear”.
