Whitehouse Consultancy sports nutrition campaign shortlisted for Public Affairs Awards 2014

The Whitehouse Consultancy has been shortlisted for a major communications award for its work on behalf of the European Specialist Sports Nutrition Alliance (ESSNA).

The Whitehouse Consultancy’s work for ESSNA has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Campaign in the EU’ category of the Public Affairs Awards. ESSNA is the pan-European sports nutrition trade body and the voice of the industry in the EU. It expanded its remit from a lobbying alliance in 2013 to enforce EU regulations on sports nutrition products which protect consumers from dangerous and potentially illegal supplements, and to protect the reputation of the industry.

With support from Whitehouse over the last 18 months, ESSNA has redefined itself as a pan-European trade body, nearly doubled its membership and helped define the health claims of sports nutrition products. The result of this campaign has been increased consumer protection and the increased safety of sports supplements. ESSNA has also confirmed that the European Commission will publish a report to further clarify definitions of sports nutrition products, while helping to enforce stringent EU regulations on sports nutrition products.

Dr Adam Carey, Chair of the European Specialist Sports Nutrition Alliance said:

“ESSNA was made great progress over the last couple of years. This is thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Whitehouse team, and their expertise. The sports nutrition industry is in a better place than it was two years ago, and I congratulate them on this achievement.”

Chris Whitehouse, Chairman of the Whitehouse Consultancy, said:

“Being shortlisted for this award is a recognition of our team’s efforts and skill in navigating a complex section of European law. We are delighted that ESSNA has grown over the last year, and that it has been so successful in helping to protect consumers and defining the sports nutrition industry. We look forward to helping them build on this success for many years to come.”

The other two finalists in the category are Cancer Research UK for their work on the EU Tobacco Products Directive and UK Active for their ‘Turning the tide of inactivity’ campaign.
