Labour to introduce tests for pupils aged between five and 11

Labour have angered teaching unions  by announcing plans to introduce tests for pupils aged between five and 11 if it wins the next election. The National Union of Teachers has voted to boycott such tests, but Shadow Education Secretary Tristram Hunt has said: “It’s vital that primary schools identify the stage of development that children are at when they start school.”
