Investigation uncovers poor practices in care homes

A BBC Panorama investigation has uncovered examples of poor practices in care homes. The investigation has led to seven staff being suspended and one being sacked, with the programme recording footage of one resident being slapped. Residents at a care home in Essex were physically assaulted, ignored and left in their own excrement for hours according to the programme. Mistreatment was also uncovered at another care home in South London, where two care workers were convicted of common assault for how they handled a patient.
