David Bennett, chief executive of health regulator Monitor, has praised the new NHS England chief executive, Simon Stevens, as being more willing than his predecessor to embrace competition to improve the quality of health services , the Financial Times (£) reports. In his first speech as chief executive earlier this month, Mr Stevens highlighted “the critical role of the third sector, and the innovation value of new providers”.
