GMC seeks new powers to prevent dangerous doctors returning to medicine

The General Medical Council (GMC) has called on the Government to take a “once in a generation opportunity” to change the law to prevent dangerous doctors returning to practising medicine. The regulator is calling for new arrangements that would see a mutual agreement between medics accused of misconduct and the GMC for them to be struck off the register.
