Labour is understood to be considering setting a legal maximum on the amount of sugar, fat and salt in foods aimed at children. Shadow Health Secretary Andy Burnham said drastic action was needed to prevent child obesity and will announce Labour’s proposal in a review within weeks.It has also been suggested that the party is planning to ban adverts aimed at children that promote junk food high in sugar, salt or fat.
