New social workers "unprepared" for frontline

Sir Martin Narey’s report on children’s social work education has found that trainee social workers are spending too much time on theory and are unprepared for frontline. The review, commissioned by Michael Gove, has called for an overhaul of widespread “deficient” university-based teaching and also called for the requirement that all registered social workers must have a degree in social work to be scrapped.
