Teachers to strike in March

Teachers in England and Wales will go on strike on 26 March in a dispute over pay, pensions and conditions, the National Union of Teachers (NUT) has announced. The NUT’s General Secretary Christine Blower said Michael Gove’s “persistent refusals” to address the profession’s concerns were “deeply damaging” and said the NUT had made “every effort” to meet with the Education Secretary to resolve the disputes. Blower said the responsibility for the strikes lay “fairly and squarely at the door of this intransigent Education Secretary”, whose policies she claimed were “losing the Coalition parties votes”.
