Government announce new fund for teaching computer coding to children

Michael Gove and George Osborne have announced a £1 million cash boost to train teachers to teach computer coding to children. The Government will provide half of the funding for the scheme, with the remainder to be covered by technology companies such as Google. Teaching of coding to pupils as young as five will begin after the introduction of the new school curriculum in September. The Education Secretary said the new computing curriculum “will give our children the skills they need to succeed in the 21st century”.
