MPs criticise charity chief executives pay

There has been fresh criticism over the level of chief executive pay at Save the Children International and Marie Stopes International. It’s been claimed that highest earner at Save the Children, Chief Executive Jasmine Whitbread, earns £234,000 a year, while the highest earner at international sexual health charity Marie Stopes receives more than £290,000. Commenting on the reports Charlie Elphicke MP said: “Think charity and you think volunteers rattling their collecting tins, vocation, compassion. You don’t think mega-salaries. It’s unacceptable and it has got to change. Charities should be open and transparent.”
