Caroline Lucas MP launches Public Service Users Bill

Caroline Lucas, the Green MP for Brighton Pavilion, is launching a new bill as part of a campaign to give people more control over public services. The Bill proposes making public ownership the default option for public services and give the public a say over whether services are contracted out. The proposed Bill would also have the right to recall private companies running public services poorly.

Gary from PSI: Caroline Lucas MP is likely to use her Private Member’s Bill to raise awareness of the We Own It campaign, which aims to shift the debate on public ownership. The Bill is sponsored by only one Government MP so it is not likely to proceed far and has almost no chance of becoming law.
