Public sector chiefs' pay revealed

New Government statistics have revealed that more than 800 mandarins and “quangocrats” earn over £100,000 each costing the taxpayer more than £100 million a year. Official figures show that 819 civil servants and officials are earning up to £330,000 a year each. The figures reveal that at the Ministry of Defence more than 85 members of staff earn more than £100,000. At the Department of Health there are 39 high earners, while at the Department for Work and Pensions there are also 29.
