Labour to focus on house building

Speaking on the Sunday Politics programme, Shadow Housing Minister Emma Reynolds called for a new generation of council houses to overcome a “big shortage”. However, it is understood that Reynolds was not committing a future Labour Government to a new programme of council house-building, but was instead highlighting the issue’s importance. Emma Reynolds is expected to give a speech shortly pledging to fix the “broken gear stick” that is restricting house building in the UK.
