Not for profit group launches legal action against CCG over tender decision

Three CCGs in the North-East have become embroiled in legal action over the tendering of their local out-of-hours GP service, after the existing provider, a GP co-operative, launched legal action against the CCGs’ decision. The CCG has refused to say who the successful bidder was, but the NHS North of England Commissioning Support Unit is confident that the decision is fully compliant with procurement legislation. With the current contract due to expire on 31 March, the local co-operative is increasingly concerned with regards to the provider changeover period, however it is unclear as to what basis the legal challenge has been put forward.
