Paterson calls on the public to buy British fruit and veg

Environment Secretary Owen Paterson has called on consumers to buy British fruit and vegetables to help boost the rural economy. In a speech to the Oxford Farming Conference Paterson said that UK imports 24% of its food in spite of the availability of “top-class” British produce. He will also say it is up to farmers, manufacturers and the Government to “take action” to address the issue.
