Schools missing out on funding for pupils from poorer background

It has been suggested that schools are missing out on millions of pounds of funding set aside for poor pupils because families are failing to claim free lunches. Research published by the Department for Education shows that 161,400 children eligible for free school meals fail to claim them, costing schools millions in lost “pupil premium” funding.
