Stephen leads our Energy and Environment practice, supporting clients’ communications strategies and providing high-level political, industry and regulatory insight and intelligence. Stephen has a particular interest in data driven technologies and how they interface with the rapidly evolving energy market, as well as the way renewable generation and low carbon transport systems interact with the electricity grid.
Prior to Whitehouse, Stephen worked on the energy and industrials team of a large communications agency, supporting both public affairs and public relations campaigns for large multinational energy and mining companies. Stephen is a member of Energy UK’s Young Energy Professionals Forum as well as the Energy Industry Club.
Stephen is a graduate of the University of Bristol where he studied politics and international relations, with a particular focus on the UK’s energy needs, environmental security as well as the development of UK nuclear policy over the last 25 years, including a cost-benefit analysis of the incoming new nuclear fleet. Following this he also studied at Tianjin Foreign Studies University in China as part of a British Council scholarship, where he studied Mandarin and Chinese culture. He is a keen swimmer and active in amateur dramatics.
