  • Salary: £38-41,000

The Whitehouse Consultancy specialises in integrated communications campaigns across public affairs, policy analysis, media relations and crisis communications to engage with decision makers in the UK and the EU to shape issues’ agenda.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a talented team across a range of UK and EU accounts, support the strategic direction of accounts and the implementation of the day-to-day PR projects. This is a wide-ranging and busy role, working with a small team responsible for media relations, campaigns, public affairs, digital communications, internal communications and events.

Whitehouse has clients across the health, human rights, nutrition and third sector industries. The new Account Manager would thrive in a fast-moving entrepreneurial atmosphere, have a love of PR and a high level of professionalism. We’re looking for someone with solid  experience in public relations and integrated communications either in agency or in-house.

Responsibilities

  • Taking responsibility for strategic oversight and supporting the Directors in delivering public relations and public affairs campaigns for the company and its clients.
  • Guiding and training the team to ensure client strategies are delivered to deadlines and regularly reporting back to clients as their first point of contact.
  • Building and maintaining a network of influential journalists and increasing breadth and depth of contacts with influencers and industry commentators relevant to the company’s sectors.
  • Planning, managing and implementing social media strategies for the company and its clients.
  • Taking responsibility for corporate reputational issues/crisis management for clients.
  • Undertaking some public affairs and stakeholder engagement work on client accounts as required
  • Contributing to company marketing including writing blogs and articles and acting as an ambassador for the agency.
  • Managing, planning, marketing and attending events representing the company and its clients
  • Working with Directors to identify and realise new business for the agency, including taking forward proactive approaches and leading on the preparation of proposals and pitches.

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • Demonstrable experience in public relations, media relations, corporate communications, social media in agency or in-house.
  • Demonstrable experience in devising and implementing successful multi-media communications campaigns for organisations from the public, private and voluntary sectors.
  • An interest in politics and policy, some experience in delivering public affairs strategies for clients either in agency or in-house and an interest in undertaking public affairs and stakeholder engagement work as required.
  • Experience in delivering high-profile social media campaigns with demonstrable outcomes
  • A deep understanding of managing, maintaining and cultivating journalist relationships for communications campaigns
  • Excellent writing skills and experience in writing articles, blogs, press releases, reports and presentations
  • A basic understanding of website management including the use of WordPress, Direct Marketing software, Google Analytics and Search Engine Optimisation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate with and influence a range of senior decision makers and senior corporate personnel in person and in writing.
  • The ability to work and thrive as part of a small and dedicated team as well as without supervision.
  • Well organised and able to manage multiple priorities and varying pressures to meet measurable targets and strict deadlines.

Due to rapid growth, we are looking to expand our EU team based in London. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to work in a talented team across a range of EU accounts, develop their account and team management experience and take a proactive role in identifying and securing new business. Whitehouse is a dynamic team with clients across the health, food and drink, charity, human rights, environment and creative industries. The candidate would thrive in a fast-moving entrepreneurial atmosphere, have a love of politics and a high level of professionalism. We’re looking for someone with substantial experience in EU public affairs, corporate communications or external relations either in agency or in-house, or with equivalent experience in the European Institutions.

Job Description

• Provide strategic advice to a range of clients including trade associations, charities and large corporations, with a focus on the European Green Deal and industrial strategy;
• Devise and implement integrated communications campaigns to shape EU policy in Brussels and in the Member States of the EU, from messaging crafting through the establishment and review of ambitious KPIs;
• Build trusted relationships with clients and act as their day to day point of contact;
• Attend clients meetings with parliamentarians and officials and developing trusted relationships;
• Oversee and ensure quality control on the production of all external written correspondence, including briefings, research, meeting packs, reports, public policy position statements and political stakeholder target lists;
• Support, inspire and motivate a brilliant team.

Core Competencies

• Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject.
• Demonstrable experience in a public affairs, media relations or external communications role.
• A thorough and extensive knowledge of the EU policy process.
• A demonstrable ability to devise and carry out successful political campaigns for clients from the public, private and voluntary sectors.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate with a range of decision makers along with senior corporate personnel.
• Experience of working with the EU policy process to drive forward change.
• Experience of presenting reports and presentations both verbally and in writing.
• The ability to identify and drive forwards new business opportunities.
• Experience of line management and the ability to prioritise own workload.
• Experience drafting media and social media strategies, pitching stories to the media, issues management and crisis communications.

We are now recruiting for an Associate Consultant/Consultant to provide support to the PR and media team.

The new Associate Consultant/Consultant would thrive in a fast-moving entrepreneurial atmosphere, have a love of PR and a high level of professionalism. We’re looking for someone with experience in EU public relations, social media and integrated communications either in agency or in-house.

Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Implementing integrated communications campaigns for the company and its clients;
  • Delivering proactive and reactive media relations campaigns in mainstream, regional and trade press;
  • Supporting the PR team with corporate reputational issues/crisis management across the business;
  • Securing and drafting op-eds, interviews and thought leadership in key trade titles on behalf of clients and the company;
  • Implementing digital and social media strategies for the company and its clients, using a range of social media platforms and analytics tools;
  • Contributing to company marketing including writing blogs and articles, identifying events and speaking opportunities, and securing media partnerships in the EU and the UK;
  • Planning, managing and executing large-scale events on behalf of clients and the company, including virtual events and webinars;
  • Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted EU and UK media;
  • Monitoring, collating and analysing media coverage of relevance of campaigns;
  • Supporting the wider team on the delivery of new business proposals.

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject;
  • Experience in EU public relations, media relations and corporate communications in agency or in-house. UK media experience an asset;
  • Experience in digital media, including social media, website management and a good knowledge of SEO;
  • Excellent written skills and demonstrable experience in drafting communications materials such as blogs, press releases, op-eds, thought leadership, reports and presentations;
  • Experience working with and advising with stakeholders at a senior level;
  • Ability to grasp complex and nuanced issues quickly and effectively, applying them to business objectives and translating them to engage key target audiences;
  • A strong understanding of managing, maintaining and cultivating a network of journalist relationships in the EU for communications campaigns;
  • A sounds understanding of the EU institutions and EU policy process;
  • The ability to work and thrive as part of a small and dedicated team as well as without supervision;
  • Well organised and able to manage multiple priorities and varying pressures to meet measurable targets and strict deadlines;
  • A good team player, willing to contribute at every level;
  • Some digital design knowledge and experience with working with Adobe InDesign, Canva and Spark (preferable but not essential).
