Senior Consultant (Senior Account Manager/Account Director)

The new Senior Consultant would thrive in a fast-moving entrepreneurial atmosphere, have a love of politics and a high level of professionalism. We’re looking for someone with solid  experience in public affairs, corporate communications or external relations either in agency or in-house.

About us

The Whitehouse Consultancy specialises in integrated communications campaigns across public affairs, policy analysis, media relations and crisis communications to engage with decision makers in Westminster, Whitehall and the devolved institutions and shape the issues agenda.

Job Description

  • Taking responsibility for the strategic oversight of public affairs, media and social media campaigns; acting as lead client contact; devising client strategy and maintaining profitable accounts.
  • Working as part of the senior team to identify and realise new business, leading on the preparation of proposals and pitches.
  • Contributing to Whitehouse marketing including writing blogs and articles, as well as contributing to social media and events organisation.
  • Working with junior members of staff to develop their skills and oversee the professional delivery of projects.
  • Line management of junior members of the team.

Core Competencies and experience

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • A proven record of working in a public affairs or external affairs role specifically with significant experience in public, private or voluntary sectors.
  • Detailed knowledge of parliamentary procedure and how to engage with political stakeholders both at a local, national and international level as part of public affairs and corporate strategy.
  • Experience analysing the political landscape and its impact on business.
  • A demonstrable ability to devise and carry out successful political communications campaigns for clients from the public, private and voluntary sectors.
  • An understanding of the business mechanisms of working in agency.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate with and advise a range of senior decision makers and senior corporate personnel in person and in writing.
  • Proven experience of leading and managing a team (including setting objectives, motivating staff, performance management) and strong team-building skills.
  • Excellent writing skills. Experience of presenting reports and presentations both verbally and in writing.
  • The ability to understand and digest complex information quickly and effectively.
  • A demonstrable ability to proactively identify and bring in new business, contributing to the company’s new business development targets.
  • The ability to work and thrive as part of a small and dedicated team as well as without supervision.

Intern (PR and media relations)

Job Details

The Whitehouse Consultancy is an award-winning communications agency with decades of experience in public affairs, press and media relations, stakeholder engagement, crisis communications and training.

We support long-term business and policy objectives; and run high-profile campaigns for clients in the private, public and charitable sectors that influence public opinion, impact policy, legislation and regulation and build support among key opinion formers and decision makers.

We are now recruiting an Intern to provide support to the media team in our office based near London Bridge.

The internship will provide the successful candidate with a thorough understanding of media relations and traditional and new media techniques, and how to use those to manage reputation and influence public opinion and behaviour. The candidate is likely to also be exposed to event management, organic and paid social media advertising, website content management and brand management.

Responsibilities will include:

– Implementing integrated PR strategies to secure company and client objectives
– Maintaining and updating information on the company and client websites and optimising for search engine rankings
– Managing and updating information and engaging with users on social media sites such as Twitter and LinkedIn
– Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media
– Collating and analysing media coverage
– Organising and delivering company and client events to meet respective objectives
– Attending networking and media events as well as meetings with clients, journalists and partner organisations

Requirements:

– Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject
– Able to demonstrate a strong interest and some experience in PR and media relations
– Able to demonstrate experience in digital media, including social media, website management and SEO
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills
– A good team player, willing to contribute at every level
