The way in which public policy is developed and turned into law can often appear to be incredibly complex, in spite of the fact that in reality the basic process can be relatively straightforward. Our core skill, based on many years of experience at every level of European, national, regional and local government, is to understand this process.
This understanding means that, from the first idea to final implementation, we help clients to develop comprehensive strategies in order to achieve their goals. This includes highlighting opportunities and potential pitfalls, identifying the key stages of a plan, and working to influence those individuals involved in the decision making process in an open, effective and ethical manner.
As necessary, we will also undertake related communications work with the client, to ensure that their voice is heard by those key decision makers. This may include assisting clients in the development and communication of their argument or, where relevant, managing targeted media relations, which may have a role in determining public opinion and in raising awareness of an issue in the publications read by decision makers.
We work across local, regional and central government; the House of Commons and House of Lords in Westminster; the devolved institutions of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland; and the European Parliament and the European Commission.
